The Canon EOS R50 V is a compact video camera with interchangeable lenses. The camera is designed specifically for video and has the familiar RF mount, so you can choose from a huge range of lenses for your video productions.

You record 4K video for up to 2 hours. These recordings are oversampled from 6K: the camera films in 6K and then downscales to 4K 30p, so you benefit from better image quality with more detail. For slow motion you record in 4K 60p or Full HD 120p. Canon Log 3 helps with colour grading, aspect markers help you frame your shots and time code synchronises your recordings. With false colour, zebras and focus peaking you check exposure and focus while filming.

The R50 V is designed to be easy to work with. The comfortable grip sits nicely in the hand, the video-first mode dial puts the focus on video, and there is a separate button for photos. The record button on the front lets you start filming quickly, and the vertical tripod socket is handy for vertical recordings. With the power zoom lever you zoom smoothly and quietly without turning the lens. The 24.2-megapixel APS-C sensor and Dual Pixel CMOS AF II make subjects easy to detect.

The vari-angle touchscreen lets you see and adjust settings even from awkward angles, and the microphone and headphone jacks ensure good sound. For online creation the R50 V has Wi-Fi and a USB connection with UVC and UAC: your computer recognises the camera as a webcam, up to 4K 60p. You can also livestream and stream via HDMI.

The Canon RF 16mm F/2.8 STM is an ultra-wide-angle lens for architecture photography, wide views and vlog videos. It is made for enthusiastic photographers looking for a compact and light RF wide-angle lens for general use.

The large f/2.8 aperture with seven blades is strong in low light and creates smooth bokeh with soft backgrounds. You can also focus from just 13 cm and discover fine details with 0.26x magnification, and the minimum aperture of f/22 lets you capture edge-to-edge sharpness.

The built-in STM motor delivers smooth, quiet autofocus while filming, and the Lens Control Ring gives you direct control over settings. Weighing just 165 grams and measuring 69.2 x 40.2 mm, the lens is discreet, compact and easy to take along.

On the APS-C sensor of the R50 V, 16 mm corresponds to about 26 mm in full frame terms: a natural wide-angle view for vlogs and video in small spaces.
