Sony ECM-W5 Wireless Microphone Kit
The Sony ECM-W5 is a wireless microphone set that brings professional audio to your workflow. You record in 32-bit float with a sampling rate of up to 96 kHz and a frequency range of up to 40 kHz, in Hi-Res quality. Because 32-bit float does not require manual gain, you never run into clipping or levels that are too low, and you always have room to adjust the audio in post-production.
Via the Multi Interface Shoe, you connect the receiver to your camera completely cable-free and digitally, so the 32-bit float audio goes straight into your recording: picture and sound as one video file, with a separate WAV file as a backup at the same time. Together with the internal storage of 64 GB per transmitter (up to approx. 90 hours), this provides a safety net against wireless dropouts. Recording 32-bit float directly in the camera works with compatible models such as the Alpha 7 V (version 2.0 or later), the Alpha 7R VI and the FX5; with any camera, the transmitter also records onboard.
The wireless connection is built on Bluetooth LE Audio and reaches up to 500 metres with a clear line of sight, up to three times more stable than the ECM-W3 and reliable in busy environments too. You work with up to four transmitters and four channels at the same time, and thanks to timecode you easily sync picture and sound in post-production. You monitor wirelessly via Bluetooth LE Audio headphones, connect a lavalier microphone via the microphone input with plug-in power and locking, and connect the receiver to a smartphone or PC via USB-C.
